Community-Up's Diversity and Inclusion Series: "MAKING MONEY MOVES"

  • Community-Up 440 Burroughs Street Detroit, MI, 48202 United States (map)

Do you remember your first job?

I do. I worked at a restaurant called Bonanza. I managed the salad bar. At 16 years of age, I was able to get hired at a reputable organization and collect a paycheck every two weeks not even a mile from home, I would walk there after school and my parent would pick me up. This is just one of many stories shared, from people like you, that grew up in an era where small businesses were plentiful and prosperous in several communities across the country.

June is Diversity and Inclusion Month

What better way to celebrate than, kicking off our 2019-2020 Diversity and Inclusion Series for Small Businesses.

Beginning June 2019 to June 2020, every 4th (fourth) Tuesday Community-Up will host a Corporate Leader in various topics of discussion important to minority small business owners. Providing access to information from Executives at multi-million dollar organizations, that have overcome all possible challenges can help elevate a small business to the next level. Topics will include:

  1. Brand Identification

  2. Access to Capital

  3. Diversification and Women Owned Businesses

  4. How to stay connected through social media and grow your network

  5. How to use Google to increase your visibility and marketability

  6. How to use drop shipping methods, for a better client experience

This is an opportunity to allow small businesses to network with Top Executives and firms that they otherwise do not get access to.  We are breaking down barriers by bringing the resources to the community.  Small Businesses are the anchors in our neighborhoods.

This a great way to show our small businesses owners how important they are to our communities, as mentors to our children, roll models to our young adults and more importantly economically fueling our neighborhoods.
